32 Postcards Post from Nazi Germany - The Fate of a German-Jewish Family from Hamburg
Book presentation and discussion with the author Torkel S. Wächter
It all began like a detective story - finding well-worn, tattered boxes while rummaging in the attic of his parents’ home in Stockholm. That was more than ten years ago.
That was when the Swedish author Torkel S. Wächter found 32 yellowed postcards that he was not able to read at first. He learned that they were written in Sütterlin script by his grandparents in Hamburg and reached his father in Sweden between March 1940 and December 1941. Torkel S. Wächter took this discovery as an opportunity to learn German and to research his family’s history. His work flowed into an online project.
Recently published, the book "32 Postcards: Post from Nazi Germany" provides insights into the Wächter family’s dramatic story.
Torkel S. Wächter will talk to Mirjam Wenzel and present this book and his online project.
