Project day: Yoffi means "great"!
Introductory Hebrew Course
Hebrew, which emerged over 3,200 years ago, is the oldest spoken Semitic language.
The best-known work in Hebrew is the Torah. The language was revived over a hundred years ago when Jewish immigrants resettled Palestine: grammar rules were simplified, and modern words were added. Today Hebrew is the official national language of the state of Israel.
Sounds of Hebrew
On our project day, students will learn just how easy it is to decipher the Hebrew alphabet and write from right to left. An introductory tour of the exhibition will focus on language and writing and convey many interesting facts about Jewish life and traditions. Afterward, students will be taught basic Hebrew skills through play, and when the day is over, no one will be at a loss for words if required to say "How are you doing?" in Hebrew.
