Beautiful Pages – The Culture of Writing

Student Workshop

This workshop is part of the program surrounding the temporary exhibition »The Creation of the World: Illustrated Manuscripts from the Braginsky Collection«, that is on show at the Jewish Museum Berlin from 4 April to 3 August 2014.

Discover Book Art With Us!

Images of letters, richly decorated pages, intricate love knots, and hidden metaphors. Individual pages contain a whole book in miniature script. In the exhibition, it is important to explore the intricacies and special features of individual documents with a magnifying glass. Then we try our own hand at the craft – either we create our own first piece of calligraphy or bind our own first book in the bookbinding workshop.

The workshop will be held in collaboration with calligraphers and the Berlin- Brandenburg Bookbinders Guild
