Visions of Belonging

Through the discussion series "Visions of Belonging," the Jewish Museum Berlin advised by DeutschPlus e.V. creates a forum for productive dialog about visions and actions towards an increasingly plural German society.

The series focuses on various questions and aspects of diversity in our postmodern and postmigrant society - Does racism belong in Germany? And if yes, why? Should Germany loosen its religious policy? What image of Germany do German culturists have today? Which new narratives of belonging emerge that reflect cross-cultural influences? How can a new notion of being German be created for the future? Which steps are necessary to generate intercultural openness in society? And how can Jewish experiences and perspectives contribute to this?

Experts from home and abroad from the worlds of education, culture, science, and civil society will make up the discussion panel.

Visions of Belonging is one of the new programs of the Jewish Museum Berlin Academy that will open in November 2012 and focus on such themes as migration and diversity.
