"Nie mehr zurück in dieses Land" (No return to this country)
Book Presentation with the Publishers
Seventy years after the 1938 pogrom, shocking accounts of eye witnesses written straight after the events occurred were found. The Harvard sociologist Edward Hartshorne had collected these from German emigrants in 1939, but never published them. No other such authentic description of the Nazi horrors against Jewish citizens in Germany and Austria exists.

They have now come to the attention of the sociologist Uta Gerhardt and the publicist Thomas Karlauf. The book contains the texts selected by Hartshorne, painstakingly edited and commented upon, with a preface by Saul Friedländer.
