Circus tent, the persecution of Jews, the GDR, and the child prodigy from Leipzig.
The clarinettist Rolf Kühn’s jazz life takes him to Benny Goodman’s penthouse and onto the stage of the Carnegie Hall. He lives in the apartment above Billie Holiday, tours with Chet Baker and Lester Young, meets Marilyn Monroe and organizes his brother’s escape from the GDR with the help of the pianist Friedrich Gulda.
The music journalist Maxi Sickert has reconstructed through talks and research one of the most unusual music biographies of the post-war era. A journey through time from the ruins of Leipzig to New York to the new Berlin. Following the reading, Rolf Kühn and his band "Tri-O" will wind up the evening with a concert.
