Raphael Gross: Anständig geblieben. Nationalsozialistische Moral
(Nazi Morality: A History of German Moral Sentiments)
Dan Diner Talks to the Author
Honor, loyalty, disgrace, and camaraderie – Raphael Gross presents the first moralistic historical perspective of Nazi history in his book. He shows that it was first a system of reciprocally demanded feelings and virtues that made the enthusiasm of the German population for the Nazi "Volksgemeinschaft" possible. It shaped political speeches, school books, and the only seemingly apolitical entertainment sector. And it didn’t disappear immediately with the military defeat of 1945.
