SUMMARY:Panel discussion: My Love for Germany ...
DESCRIPTION:Panel discussion: My Love for Germany ...\n\n"When I think of Germany in the night, I cannot sleep," Heinrich Heine wrote about his country in exile in Paris in 1843, swaying between ironic detachment and longing. Heine, who experienced exclusion from German society throughout his lifetime, is now one of the most translated poets of the German language and shaped the image of Germany at home and abroad.\n\nWhat image of Germany do German cultural figures have today? Which works of German culture open up space for identification for them and their audience? Which new German narratives emerge today that reflect cross-cultural influences?\n\n\nPanelists:\nShermin Langhoff (director of the Ballhaus Naunynstraße)\nDani Levy (director)\nNicol Ljubić (writer)\nZafer Şenocak (writer)\nModerator: Isabel Schayani (journalist at ARD [Germany's First Public TV-Channel])\n\nFurther information on the discussion series and brief biographies of the speakers can be found here.\n\nA recording of the event can be found on our YouTube channel (in German).\n\nAdvised by DeutschPlus e.V. - Initiative for a Plural Republic\n\nMedia partner: taz. die tageszeitung\nwww.taz.de\n\n\nWhen: 21 November 2012, 7:30 pm\n\nWhere: Jewish Museum Berlin, Lindenstraße 9-14, 10969 Berlin, Old Building, second level, Great Hall\n\nAdmission: free\n\nRegistration: Tel: +49 (0)30 259 93 488 , reservierung@jmberlin.de, \n\nContact: Julia Jürgens, Tel: +49 (0)30 259 93 353, Fax: +49 (0)30 259 93 330, j.juergens@jmberlin.de, \n\nFor further information, see http://www.jmberlin.de/main/EN/02-Events/Events_2012/2012_11_21_love-germany.php
