Yigal Zalmona - until recently chief curator of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem - provides an overview of Israel’s art of the last 100 years. He describes the major art movements against the backdrop of social and political developments.

Beginning in 1906 with the founding of the Bezalel School of Art, which had set itself the goal of creating a Jewish national art, Zalmona shows how contemporary events are tightly linked to trends in art. Zalmona concludes with a look at the present and the status of photography and video art in Israel today.
