Bülent Durmus

Organizational Director

Bülent Durmus took up the post of organizational director at the Jewish Museum Berlin in March 2008. In the newly created field of organizational development, he is responsible for events, visitor research, visitor services, and the optimization of the internal organizational structure. In the administrative sphere he oversees facility management, security, and IT.

During the production of the permanent exhibition between May 2000 and September 2001, Bülent Durmus represented the museum in the remodeling project planned by David Libeskind. As an external consultant he oversaw the establishment of the museum’s Technical Department in 2002 and directed this department from 2003 to 2008.

Bülent Durmus was born in Izmit, Turkey, in 1970 and has lived in Berlin since 1971. He is married and has three children. After completing his school education, he studied architecture at the Technical University of Berlin and gained experience at various architectural firms. His master’s thesis, which he completed in 1998, was titled, “The Turkish Embassy in the Tiergarten District of Berlin.” After completing his degree, he worked for a variety of architectural firms on a freelance basis. In 1999–2000 he set up the planning, manufacturing, purchasing, and sales departments at a manufacturer of modular steel piping. He has been a member of the Berlin Chamber of Architects since 2003.
