Let’s rediscover the Staatsballett Berlin through the work of Israeli choreographer Sharon Eyal. The reviews of her pieces are extroardinary. In the words of the Tagespiegel, it is breathtaking how it reads and feels such harshness, clarity, and incredible beauty and cruelty in human existence – then molds it all into dance.
Sharon Eyal comes from Jerusalem and was a dancer and later house choreographer for Israel’s Batsheva Dance Company, one of the world’s most influential contemporary ensembles. Alexander Ekman is well-known for his amusing, up-tempo compositions whose wit he brings to life on stage. He cares about finding subjects that speak to the mass of his contemporaries in pieces that both entertain and challenge audiences.
