Day trip to the Bauhaus in Weimar
Event for Friends of the Jewish Museum Berlin
To mark this year’s Bauhaus anniversary, our day trip takes us to the founding site in Weimar. We will visit the new Bauhaus Museum, which presents the Bauhaus collection of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar comprising more than 10,000 objects. Afterwards we will view the Bauhaus University with the main building and the Van-de-Velde Building, considered among the most important turn-of-the-century art school buildings today.
Ronald Hirte, employee of the Buchenwald Memorial, will accompany us on our search trail through city. As an expert on architectural and social history in the period when the Bauhaus formed in Weimar, he places architecture in its historical context and presents Bauhaus protagonists.
