Our first day trip this year takes us to Halle on the Saale. And with good reason – the City Museum Halle is taking the Bauhaus anniversary as a welcome opportunity to explore the city’s structural development with the special exhibition Kleinwohnung, Modehaus, Kraftzentrale – Neues Bauen und neues Leben im Halle der 20er Jahre (Small Apartment, Couture House, Power Station – New Building Development and New Life in Halle of the 1920s).

During a stroll through the city with a particular focus on the Jewish bourgeoisie as an integral part of the city’s society, we will visit department stores, cinema halls, variety theatres, and an administrative building in Bauhaus style as examples of modern architecture that still characterize the cityscape today. In addition, the Moritzburg Art Museum shines with a new permanent exhibition opened this year that guides us through the Paths to Modernity (Wege in die Moderne) and has us considering architecture from an art historical perspective.
