We will be making animals destined for Noah’s Ark together. Which animal would you like to be there? The magic unicorn, the golden hamster, or the chilled out sloth? What does your favorite animal look like? Bright and colorful or sporting wings and a propeller on its head?
The workshop begins with exciting animal stories. First you choose your favorite animal and imagine you are in its world. You think about what’s special about your pet, imitate its call, hiss, or roar, and choose materials, colors, and tools to make a sculpture of your animal for your room.

Impressions from the 2019 Fall Vacation Camp

At the week-long autumn camp "Save Your Favorite Animal on Noah's Ark!" for children ages 8 to 10, everything revolved around Noah's ark and the animals on board, Jewish Museum Berlin, photo: Patrick Imbacher

To kick off the art workshop, the children listened to exciting stories and then built their own animal using recycled materials, Jewish Museum Berlin, photo: Patrick Imbacher

Then they built an imaginary animal together. With spines like a hedgehog, a shell like a turtle, and feet like a duckling, FHIESKHE was born – its name is spelled with the first letters of all of the children's favorite animals, Jewish Museum Berlin, photo: Patrick Imbacher

At the end, there was a presentation: FHIESKHE rolled onto the stage and the children beamed to the sound of roaring applause, Jewish Museum Berlin, photo: Patrick Imbacher
The fall vacation camp offers a creative program with lots of active games during the breaks. In workshop groups of 10 children, the focus is on individual care. A final presentation for parents, friends, and guests concludes this action-packed week.
The program is led by the artists Janine Schweiger and Matthias Garff: Janine Schweiger is a dramaturge, theater pedagog, and narrator, and visual artist Matthias Garff creates animal sculptures from finds, which will be on show in the children’s museum (currently under construction).
