Eighty-seven years after its premiere, the last operetta of the Weimar Republic will be performed anew at the Komische Oper Berlin under Barry Kosky’s direction – we look forward to celebrating this special premiere with you! The work of the Jewish-Czech composer Jaromír Weinberger is being completely rearranged for this new production and breaks with familiar forms:
The choir sings only from offstage, the absence of long acts with ballet interludes leave space for other focal themes, and the finales are performed by the four soloists alone. Through this, the focus is all the more on the music, which was reconstructed due to the lack of the original score especially for this new production. In its particularity, it alternates between lively operetta and orchestral depictions of nature – join us on a journey into the stirring Spring Storms.
