Redemption Now – A Dialogue Tour for Visitors Who Are Blind or Have Limited Vision

Public tour for adults (in German)

Room view of the exhibition with video installation: The three-channel video is projected on a curved, eight-meter wide panoramic wall. A gap in the same wall leads to another room, where sculptures of Malka Germania can be found

The image depicts the centerpiece of the exhibition Yael Bartana – Redemption Now: the video artwork Malka Germania, which is Hebrew for “Queen Germany”; Jewish Museum Berlin, photo: Yves Sucksdorff

This tour seeks to use dialogue to create more inclusive access to the works of Yael Bartana for visitors with or without a visual impairment. It is focused on a small selection of the video artworks, photographs, and light and plaster sculptures. These are made accessible thanks to detailed descriptions as well as a tactile model from the exhibition’s sculptural depot and will be discussed in their political and social contexts. In the process, we will consider together what imaginary scenarios, collective utopias, and historical narratives Yael Bartana invokes and what ideas the artist provokes in ourselves.
