Jazz in the Garden: Itamar Erez & Yshai Afterman

Middle Eastern Jazz

The guitarist and pianist Itamar Erez from Tel Aviv unites oriental music tradition, jazz, and flamenco in his pieces – he is a musical border crosser known for his grandiose performances and his playful virtuosity. In his unique way, he plays his guitar like an oud – an oriental short-necked lute which is considered the forerunner of the European lute. Itamar Erez is currently touring international stages in Canada, the US, Germany, and the Netherlands, and has been presented with the "Israeli Prime Minister's Prize for Composers" among other awards. He will perform with percussionist Yshai Afterman.

Parallel to the concerts, children can bake matzah bread in the Museum Garden's clay oven in good weather and print their name in Hebrew on T-shirts in unfavorable weather.

Culinary accompaniment for each event is provided by the museum café "Schmus" in the form of fresh and light dishes and a picnic basket especially for the jazz matinées, which makes the concert experience in the garden a really special one.
All events in the series "Jazz in the Garden" will be held in the Museum Garden (in bad weather in the Glass Courtyard). Admission is free.

An event as part of the Jewish Museum Berlin’s Cultural Summer Program for 2015.
