Badash Trio

Jazz in the Garden – Cultural Summer Program

Israeli Ladino singer Yael Badash’s clear, expressive voice paired with Turkish, Arabic, and Greek sounds of the multi-instrumentalists Tomer Moked Blum and Tayfun Guttstadt is characteristic of the Badash Trio’s unique sound. The trio sometimes mixes elements of pop, chanson, and jazz into its hybrid compositions, embedding traditional Sephardic songs that tell of separation, pain, and faith in Ladino, the language of the Sephardic Jews in their historical context.
