Jewish in the GDR – An Urban Walk from Hackescher Markt to the New Synagogue Berlin

An event for FRIENDS OF THE JMB

This exploration of place was devised by the JMB in cooperation with the foundation “New Synagogue Berlin – Centrum Judaicum” as a special accompaniment to the exhibition Another Country. Jewish in the GDR FRIENDS OF THE JMB are invited to be part of an initial "pilot group". Together with historian Johannes Schwarz, we will discover places in the Spandau suburb that played a special role for the Jewish community of East Berlin before 1990. We will end with a visit to the New Synagogue.
