We are celebrating a premiere – people from different cultural backgrounds, young and old, Jewish and Muslim, met, discussed, and rehearsed this reinterpretation of the biblical flood story in the form of light and shadow theater. The youngest participant was five and the oldest 78 years old. The group transformed this story from the Torah and the Koran into a musical Karagöz spectacle. Music is a must too – a Turkish and a Hebrew choir will accompany the performance.
This Jewish Museum Berlin production was created in cooperation with the Conservatory for Turkish Music, the Turkish Tiyatrom Theater, the community centers Mina e. V. and Elele, and the Jewish organizations Friends of the Fraenkelufer Synagog, the Janusz Korczak House in Berlin, and the Joint Distribution Committee.
The performance will premiere at the Turkish Tiyatrom Theater in Alte Jakobstr. 12.
