Under the banner of our exhibition A Is for Jewish, we celebrate the diversity of Jewish life in the museum’s Glass Courtyard – the DJs Soul Bait and Syriantal combine old-school disco with Hebrew tunes and funky electro beats. All rounded off with Russian teatime, Israeli cocktails, and a hummus buffet. Our brief guided tours are in keeping with the Bauhaus trend – our exploration tour takes us right through the Libeskind Building finding links between Daniel Libeskind and the Bauhaus. The guided tours “Update Bauhaus” and “Leaning Walls, Dark Tower” were especially designed for the Long Museum Night.

Update the Bauhaus! Daniel Libeskind and the Jewish MuseumAt first glance, Daniel Libeskind’s zig-zagging, disconcerting design seems like the polar opposite of the sunny and functional buildings of the Bauhaus. In fact, his work draws deep inspiration from Bauhaus ideas. |

Slanted Walls, Dark Tower: Daniel Libeskind for ChildrenWhat is this massive zinc facade hiding? Where does this long downward staircase lead? Are those cracks in the façade – or cuts? Will we find the secret garden? Why does it feel like the floor of the museum is swaying? In this architectural tour for visitors of all ages, we will embark on a journey to explore the Jewish Museum building and the ideas of its architect, Daniel Libeskind. |

This Place: ArchitectureIn their examinations of Israel and the West Bank, twelve of the art photographers in the exhibition deal with architectural phenomena. Taking selected works as examples, this mini-tour views architecture through a photographic lens. |
