The new temporary exhibition “We dreamed of nothing but the Enlightenment” has been on display at the Jewish Museum Berlin since 14 April 2022. The exhibition presents the Enlightenment era as an experimental period of upheaval when the concepts of human rights, freedom of opinion, and the diversity of individual lifestyles were first articulated and demanded.
With his arguments for the emancipation of Jews, rights for minorities, and the separation between state and religion, Moses Mendelssohn opened doors to modernity – and raised questions about Jewish identity that remain very current today.
In an exclusive tour, curator Inka Bertz will give you exciting insights into the temporary exhibition.
