Fritz Lang’s famous crime film of 1931 is performed anew and celebrates its premiere on the Komische Oper stage. At the heart of Barrie Kosky’s production is the dazzling figure of the murderer hunted down by the city crowd, embodied by the baritone of international renown Scott Hendricks. Award-winning pianist and composer Moritz Eggert brings this scenery to life by creating a sound portrait in which language, sound, and music unite.
Using children’s songs and poems by the Berlin-born German-Jewish writer Walter Mehring, Eggert – whose work includes more than 20 unconventional as well as diverse stage works – creates a musical theater somewhere between radio play, Threepenny Opera, and city symphony.
The Komische Oper Berlin is pleased to grant you an exclusive discount of 5 euros on tickets in price category III.
