Hanukkah at the JMB

Sing-Along Concert & Shtetl Berlin: Musical Journey and Candle Lighting

The eight-day festival of Hanukkah begins at the JMB with cheerful sounds and, this year, a very special program for young and old. Glückel, our fluffy community mascot, and other stuffed special guests – together with the musicians Flora Hirschfeld (voice) and Zineddine Smain (percussion) – will guide the audience on a singalong round-the-world journey. Music educator Esther Kontarsky has compiled a varied collection of Hanukkah songs from different countries that are easy to sing even without previous familiarity. Celebrate and sing with us!

The ceremony to light the first Hanukkah candle will be accompanied by a concert featuring the international musicians of the Shtetl Berlin festival. While the grown-up guests soak in the sounds of klezmer, the young ones will amuse themselves at Hanukkah game stations.

The museum café will be serving up latkes, sufganiot, and mulled wine.
