Jerusalem in Conflict

Tours for School Groups

This tour explores political and sometimes violent conflicts in and around the city of Jerusalem since the era of the British Mandate.

by appointment
Where

Old Building, ground level, "Meeting Point" in the foyer

Lindenstraße 9–14, 10969 Berlin

We will look at demographic changes resulting from increased Jewish immigration to Palestine in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries as well as the ideological influences of Zionism and Palestinian nationalism. The ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine is highly complex and has geopolitical, economic, and religious dimensions. The tour considers both Israeli and Palestinian perspectives on the conflict and also discusses the significance of the conflict in Germany.

One- or Two-Hour Tours

To do justice to the complexity of the topic and allow time for detailed discussion of the artifacts, videos, and artworks in the exhibition, we recommend reserving the extended version of the tour, which lasts two hours. Our guides will be sure to alternate between introduction, response, interpretation, and discussion in keeping with the length of the tour.
