This museum, which presents and contextualizes its extensive collection of artwork by the Brücke group in one central location, is an ideal complement to the exhibition of Brücke artist Otto Mueller that we visited at the beginning of this year.
Past event
The exhibition Escape into Art? engages deeply and critically with the artistic practices, restricted options, and everyday lives of former Brücke artists during the Nazi period. For the first time ever, the artists’ layered circumstances will be on display alongside the internal contradictions of Nazi cultural policy. To demonstrate the ruptures and continues in the work of long-lived Brücke artists, the story doesn’t end in May 1945; it continues with the final chapter of the show at Kunsthaus Dahlem.
