In the Jewish Museum Berlin’s new core exhibition, the media installation Family Album presents the centerpiece of the museum’s collection: the historical legacy of German Jews, assembled over the past twenty years from around the world.
At the beginning of the workshop, participants will get to know the interactive application that provides access to ten digitized collections encompassing nearly 500 objects available to explore. Next, the museum’s archivists will share selected family stories and original documents.

The participants will get a chance of their own to research locations from the stories and collect further points of connection. They will use this information to prepare their own brief entries for the participatory Jewish Places website, which makes knowledge of Jewish life past and present in Germany accessible to a broad audience. At the end of the workshop, the new location entries will be uploaded to the website’s interactive map.
