The portrait is one of the most important genres of painting. The exhibition Paris Magnétique. 1905–1940 shows numerous portraits and self-portraits of artists who came to Paris in the first half of the nineteenth century, where they became part of the artistic avant-garde. Among them were many Jewish artists, such as Marc Chagall, Chaim Soutine, Amedeo Modigliani, Chana Orloff and Sonia Delaunay.
After a short tour of the exhibition, participants will discuss the portrait as an artistic form and gain insights into the context in which the works were created. Afterwards, they are invited to let their creativity run free by creating their own portrait.
