Wanda Landowska's former secretary Denise Mathot made an application on her behalf to the French "Commission de Recuperation Artistique". The muselar virginal remained in Europe even after it was restituted to Landowska. A private collector offered it for sale to the Brussels Musical Instruments Museum in 1971.
