Press Release, Mon 31 Jul 2023
After closure for more than a year, the redesigned museum shop at the Jewish Museum Berlin (JMB) opens on 1 August 2023. Covering more than 100 square meters in the foyer of the Old Building, the JMB Shop presents a wide spectrum of products: Judaica and high-quality accessories; books on Judaism, Jewish life in Germany, architecture, and current JMB exhibitions and events; children’s items; and textiles, ceramics, glass, and stationery – naturally including souvenirs of Berlin, postcards, and notebooks.

“We want every product to tell a story,” says Hetty Berg, Director of the JMB.
“It should be a special memento of the impressions and experiences that visitors have gathered at the JMB. To make sure that works, we will continually develop our range, for example using customer questionnaires, sales analysis, and trend research.”
ANOHA, the children’s world of the JMB, is also represented. In the ANOHA shop-in-shop, books, games, handicraft ideas, and other products give visitors of all ages appropriate opportunities to engage with the Torah story of Noah’s Ark.
“Personally, my own visit to a museum always ends in the museum shop. I am delighted that we can finally offer our visitors this special place in the JMB as an additional museum experience,” Hetty Berg says.
“When designing the new shop, it was especially important to us that the location should be as accessible as possible and open to everyone.”
The new museum shop was created in collaboration with the JMB designers by Studio Huber with Claudia Graupner, and is operated by Bavaroi Berlin GmbH. The design reflects not only the JMB’s corporate identity, but also the architecture of the Libeskind Building. Thus, the shop’s walls feature the striking colors of the JMB logo, and the ceiling lights recall the new building’s characteristic zigzag ground plan.
The JMB Shop is open daily from 10 am to 7 pm.
