The Opposite of Now
Artistic Paths to a Different Present – Exhibition Catalog
What ideas can we offer as a counterpoint to an often oppressive present? What can stimulate our imagination? Twelve international artists explore these questions, drawing inspiration from, among other sources, the writings of Jewish philosophers such as Ernst Bloch, Theodor Adorno, Hannah Arendt, and Walter Benjamin.
In this exhibition catalog, twelve authors from the fields of philosophy, art history, and cultural history offer their own perspectives on the individual works of art. Four essays also provide insight into the exhibition itself and explore concepts from the Jewish tradition that are related to it.
