Salman Schocken (1877–1959) was a Jewish entrepreneur, publisher, philanthropist, and patron of the arts. The JMB invited American author and Pulitzer Prize winner Joshua Cohen to explore Schocken's cultural legacy and its traces in our collection.

Cohen has written a literary text for each department store product, which can be heard and read in the exhibition. In this way, he has given the objects a voice. This collection presentation was made possible by your support. As a token of our gratitude, we invite you to this exclusive discussion with the two curators.
