Helga Krohn: Bruno Asch

Bruno Asch was a prominent local politician in Frankfurt and Berlin, well respected as a “financial genius” in the difficult years after the First World War and the economic crisis, a socialist and a consciously non-religious Jew, born of humanity and spirit. The Nazis dismissed him as treasurer in Berlin in 1933. He fled to Amsterdam, where he took his own life after the Nazi invasion in 1940.
