Rediscover Germany with Jewish Places – Team-Building Day or Professional Development

In this workshop, participants explore visible and invisible Jewish sites from the past and present. To begin, a tour of the permanent exhibition takes participants through various eras and the lived experiences of German Jews. Through objects, art installations, hands-on stations, and virtual reality, participants will discover Jewish sites and explore fascinating questions: Since when has there been Jewish life in the various regions of Germany? Why did Jewish people in the early modern period live primarily in rural areas? And what actually makes a place a Jewish site?

In the second part of the workshop, participants are introduced to the Jewish Museum Berlin’s “Jewish Places” community platform. Using the digital map of local Jewish history, they explore places in their area, examine their unique features, and learn how to create their own entry on the platform. Highlighting Jewish places and stories makes it clear that Jewish life is an integral part of our society – both in the past and today. In this way, the workshop helps break down prejudices and counteract antisemitism.
