To wrap up our anniversary year and as part of Family Sunday, we’re teaming up with the museum’s mascot Glückel and Shtetl Berlin to host a Hanukkah celebration—featuring music, dance, and games.

Since 2018, we’ve been fortunate to collaborate with the international stars of Shtetl Berlin to organize the Hanukkah celebration at the JMB. For our 25th anniversary, our longtime partners are presenting a very special program to commemorate the miracle of light in the Berlin Shtetl: the All-Star Band is inviting exciting guests to dance into the future together through music!

Of course, our museum mascot Glückel is a must-see at Hanukkah: Her sing-along concert, featuring dancing flames on the karaoke screen, gets young and old alike singing and clapping. Together with Director Hetty Berg and Shtetl Berlin, Glückel will light the candles for the second night of Hanukkah 2026.

In addition to music and dance, the children can try their hand at the activity stations: whether it’s rolling marbles through the temple maze, building a hanukkiah, shooting foam sufganiyot with a catapult, or playing in a “FC Makkabi vs. FC Zeus” foosball tournament—there’s something for everyone here.

As every year, the museum café Shalomchen offers oil-fried delicacies such as latkes and sufganiot.

Program

Starting at 3 pm: Hanukkah games in the Glashof, latkes and sufganiyot from the Shalomchen Museum Café

3:30 pm: Hanukkah songs to sing along with, featuring the museum’s mascot Glückel

4 pm: Lighting of the candles with Hetty Berg and Glückel, followed by music and dance with Shtetl Berlin
