The exhibition explores the cultural legacy of the publisher and department-store entrepreneur Salman Schocken. Through books and objects from the JMB collection, Joshua Cohen comments on the history of Salman Schocken’s publishing house, which he takes as a vantage point for a present-day perspective on culture and capital, department stores and museums – and, not least, all manner of (re)acquisition and belonging.

Several objects, namely a porcelain box, a handbag, a plate, a gramophone needle box, a dress and a cream jar alternate on an orange and light blue background, with the Schocken logo in the shape of an S above.
