Ceramicist, Teacher

Paula Aronsohn, née Paula Sealtiel, was born on 27 November 1908 into a long-established Sephardic family in Hamburg. Her everyday ceramics were fundamentally influenced by the Bauhaus.

After emigrating to the British Mandate of Palestine, she founded the “Kad va-Sefel” (“Jug and Mug”) workshop together with Eva Samuel, introducing plain and functional ceramic forms to the region. From 1960 to 1971 Paula Aronsohn taught ceramics at the secondary school of the Women’s International Zionist Organization (WIZO). She died on 9 October 1998 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
