Jazz in the Garden I – Nigun Quartet
As Part of the Zukunftsmusik Concert Series
As part of the Zukunftsmusik concert series, the Jewish Museum Berlin presents the Nigun Quartet – a jazz ensemble from Israel that blends Hasidic melodies with the rich musical language of jazz.

Where
Museum Garden (in case of bad weather in the Glass Courtyard)
Lindenstraße 9–14, 10969 Berlin
For the past eight years, the quartet has been continuously reinterpreting the nigun – the spiritual Hasidic melody – using piano, saxophone, double bass, and drums. Within the improvisational freedom of jazz, the musicians weave rhythmic complexity with simple, repetitive melodies that invite the audience to join in singing.
The Nigun Quartet has received international acclaim for its two studio albums and is broadcast on leading jazz radio stations from the United Kingdom to Japan.
With:
- Tom Lev – saxophone
- Moshe Elmakias – piano
- Opher Schneider – double bass
- Yosi Levy – drums
