Call for Collection Items: “Jews in the GDR”

The Jewish Museum Berlin is seeking objects that tell a story about Jewish life in the GDR. With your support, a unique new collection focus will be established at the Jewish Museum.

For the summer of 2023, the Jewish Museum Berlin is preparing a large exhibition about Jewish people's experiences in the GDR. The exhibition will address themes such as self-perception and belonging, and show perspectives that are central to both Jewish and German history.

For this, we are seeking objects: photographs, films, documents and other items that provide an insight into Jewish everyday life, religious traditions and the connection to mainstream society and the state.

We are collecting these objects and the stories they tell in order to preserve and research them, and to make them accessible to a wider audience.

We would appreciate your support in this important endeavor!
