Painted in words. The portrait of a lost time

Audio recording: Reading and Talk With Samuel Bak

Samuel Bak describes Jewish life in Wilna shortly before the obliteration.

At the heart of the family story is the nine-year-old Samuel Bak, now an artist of international renown, who for sixty years was only able to express his experiences in pictures - until he wrote this book.

"Of all the hundreds of books I have read on the period before and after the Shoa, Samuel Bak's book is unique," writes Amos Oz in his foreword.

Organized in cooperation with the Literaturhandlung and Beltz Publishers.
