Times of Commemoration: On Jewish Histories and Others
Talk by Dan Diner (audio recording available, in German)
In his 2003 book Gedächtniszeiten (Times of Commemoration), historian Dan Diner compiled essays about history and memory, society and commemoration.
It is occupied with “remembering the century”: a century of violence, of displacement, of genocide. Dan Diner, a professor of modern history at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and the University of Leipzig, has a knack for unearthing new perspectives and placing the familiar in surprising contexts.
