About the exhibition The Opposite of Now. Artistic Paths to a Different Present

In a time marked by crisis – a troubling present – the Jewish Museum Berlin sets out in search of something different, something better: the opposite. Twelve artists help us in this endeavor. Their works explore the present in search of pathways toward another present. Some draw on Jewish traditions, while others engage with thinkers such as Ernst Bloch and Theodor W. Adorno, who advocated for a better society in dark times.

Marking its 25th anniversary, the museum looks ahead toward openness and possibility. The exhibition explores the power of individuals and communities to imagine a better life for everyone – a power that can grow. The Opposite of Now seeks to uncover and inspire that potential.

Featuring works by Yael Bartana, Andrea Büttner, Chto Delat International, Arnold Dreyblatt, William Forsythe, Dana Kavelina, Alexander Kluge, Daniel Laufer, Dor Zlekha Levy, Ari Benjamin Meyers, Alona Rodeh, and Eran Schaerf.
