Expert Guided Tour of the Exhibition In Sight! Lovis Corinth at the Alte Nationalgalerie
Expert Guided Tour for the Friends of the JMB at the Alte Nationalgalerie (in German)
Marking the 100th anniversary of Lovis Corinth’s death, the Alte Nationalgalerie presents a focused exhibition examining the fate of the artist’s works—as well as those of his wife, Charlotte Berend-Corinth—within the Nationalgalerie’s collection. At the center of the exhibition are the diverse provenances of the paintings, particularly in connection with the National Socialist campaign against so-called “Degenerate Art.”
Lovis Corinth (1858–1925) is regarded, alongside Max Liebermann and Max Slevogt, as one of the most important representatives of German Impressionism. The Nationalgalerie holds a significant collection of his works, whose paths are often marked by loss, return, and reacquisition.
As a special opportunity, the Friends of the JMB are invited to take part in an exclusive expert-led tour (in German) of the exhibition. To register, simply email us at freunde@jmberlin.de.
