Feminist Approaches to Judaism and Islam
Dialogical lecture series "Judaism & Islam in the Diaspora" (Video Recording)
Religion and feminism may sound like a contradiction in terms. Nevertheless, religiously grounded approaches that aim to reread religious texts from a feminist perspective are currently taking shape. What are the lines of conflict between traditional readings and these new interpretations, and how do the religious communities perceive such innovations?
Discussants: Judith Plaskow, New York, religious scholar and author of one of the first works of Jewish feminist theology, and Ziba Mir-Hosseini, London, researcher on Islamic law and gender.
Dialogical lecture Series in the Context of the Jewish-Islamic Forum of the W. Michael Blumenthal Academy.
