The Museum Made Easy

An Inclusive Event as Part of the Special Olympics World Games Berlin 2023 (in German – plain language)

The Jewish Museum Berlin opened in 2001.

It is one of Europe's largest Jewish museums.

In our exhibition, we tell the history of German Jews and show how they live today.

We will guide you through the exhibition and show you the museum.

Where

Old Building, ground level, “Meeting Point” in the Glass Courtyard

This is what happens on the tours:

  1. You'll receive a warm welcome.
  2. We'll look at the building.
  3. We'll look at a Torah. A Torah is a scroll. These scrolls contain texts that are important to Jews.
  4. We'll watch a video. It features some prayers.
  5. We'll take a break.
  6. We'll bake some plaited yeast bread. This is called Challah. Challah is a bread for Jewish holy days.
