“HörMahl”: A Feast for the Ears

Dinner with Julie Elias and Rahel Varnhagen (in German)

Our new podcast series has a culinary flavor with a dash of cultural history. Part 1 is dedicated to the Jewish writer and author of several (cook)books Julie Elias. Part 2 focuses on Rahel Varnhagen, salonnière, woman of letters, and the author of countless letters and diary entries whose 250th birthday we are celebrating this year.

Let’s take a seat at the table and listen to what Birgit Claus, director of the museum café kultur, and Ulrike Sonnemann, library director, have to say about these interesting women, emancipation, food culture, and the lives of Jewish women 100 and 250 years ago.

For part 2, we’ve invited Inka Bertz, a curator of the new Core Exhibition, to the table, along with Dorthee Nolte, whose book will be published on the occasion of Rahel Varnhagen’s birthday. Birgit Claus will offer culinary delicacies to go along with the discussion.
