Jewish Youth Movement in Germany

Audio recording of the talk by Ulrike Pilarczyk, and Micha Brumlik

To mark fifty years’ existence of the Zionist youth movement in Germany (ZJD), the Jewish Museum Berlin looks back at the history of Jewish youth movements in Germany. Ulrike Pilarczyk commences the symposium with a talk on "The Identity of the Zionist Youth Movement as Reflected in Contemporary Photography" on the period up to the beginning of the Second World War.

Following this, Micha Brumlik, Hans Jakob Ginsburg, Stefanie Schüler-Springorum, and Moshe Zuckermann will analyze and evaluate the history of the ZJD against the backdrop of postwar Jewish history in Germany in a panel discussion. In the evening, participants are invited to share their own personal stories and photographs of ZJD membership.
