JMB Journal 28: Staying Curious!

The Museum’s 25th Anniversary Issue

The JMB Journal is being published to accompany the diverse anniversary program. In this issue, we are, above all, curious. What questions does a society face in times of great upheaval? How can we, as a museum, address and discuss these questions through exhibitions and events? Why is it necessary, especially now, to create open, accessible spaces for exchange, learning, and shared experiences?

In an interview, director Hetty Berg discusses the museum’s development from its beginnings to the present day, highlighting both its achievements and challenges, and what it takes to shape a positive future. The astrophysicist Mario Livio describes curiosity as a means of resistance. In his interview, Daniel Libeskind refers to curiosity as a mild form of wonder, which he feels leads to rebellion.

What moves young adults? Our youngest colleagues give us their answers in the photo series Questions for Today. The curator Theresia Ziehe writes about how curiosity helps us discover historical details while working with our family collections. The most important questions, however, are raised by children. In this JMB Journal, on the occasion of ANOHA’s fifth birthday, we offer children, and anyone interested, something to read, craft, and experiment with. Together with the JMB, the FRIENDS OF THE JMB are celebrating their twenty-fifth birthday. We have compiled highlights from these twenty-five years of support.

The JMB Journal 28 will be published in May 2026.
