Between the Lines

Two Israeli lyricists who reside mainly in Germany and two German poets who are familiar with Israel – through their poetry, Maya Kuperman, Zehava Khalfa, Gundula Schiffer, and Heike Willingham enter into Hebrew-German dialogue about home and belonging, mother tongue and motherhood, exile, immigration, and the Shoah.
In conversation with the literary and cultural scholar Yael Almog, they reflect on their decisions to live in Germany or Israel, the influence of history and impermanence on their verse, and experience of a decidedly female migration.
