Who is carrying the Menorah?

Talk by Steven Fine on Jewish Counter-Histories of the Arch of Titus Spoils Panel (audio recording available)

In his lecture Who is Carrying the Menorah? Jewish Counter-Histories of the Arch of Titus Spoil's Panel, Steven Fine explores a controversial Jewish interpretation of the Arch of Titus illustrations.

The arch depicts the triumphal procession of the Romans with spoils from the Jerusalem temple. The scene was later reinterpreted from a Jewish perspective as Jews carrying their sacred objects to exile.
